Roebuck Wholesale Nursery & Landscaping (RWNL) is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our growing Landscape Construction division. Reporting to the Senior Estimator & Preconstruction, this role offers an exciting opportunity to support the estimating process for a variety of projects, including hardscapes, irrigation systems, and landscape designs. The Junior Estimator will assist in creating accurate cost estimates, support project bidding, and engage with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure successful project outcomes. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Project Estimation Support
- Assist in preparing conceptual and detailed cost estimates for landscape construction projects.
- Perform quantity take-offs using project documents, including blueprints and specifications.
- Double-check all take-offs and calculations to ensure accuracy before submission, mitigating errors and enhancing bid quality.
- Collaborate with the Senior Estimator to analyze scopes of work and ensure accurate pricing for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Facilitate documents for take-off services, including irrigation material pricing and head layout, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
- Maintain and update resource pricing catalogs based on vendor and supplier data.
- Utilize estimating software such as Aspire and On-Screen Take-Off to generate comprehensive estimates.
Bidding & Proposal Preparation
- Support the Senior Estimator in organizing and managing bid documents, bid calendars, and proposal submissions.
- Download and organize bid documents as they are received to ensure timely and efficient proposal preparation.
- Regularly update the bid calendar and estimating software with current project information to maintain accuracy and track deadlines.
- Communicate with clients to gather project details, including scope, timelines, and expectations.
- Collect and analyze pricing data from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to inform bids.
- Prepare and submit detailed project reports, including risk analysis and cost assumptions.
Client & Vendor Engagement
- Attend meetings with clients, contractors, and vendors to gather critical project information.
- Conduct front-end communication with clients to clarify scope of work, anticipated start dates, and potential award timelines, fostering transparency and strong relationships
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Act as a point of contact for general project inquiries, providing timely and accurate responses.
Process Improvement & Collaboration
- Leverage historical project data to improve the accuracy and efficiency of cost estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to align estimating efforts with field execution.
- Continuously seek opportunities to refine processes and adopt industry best practices.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain organized documentation for all estimating tasks, including project files and cost analysis records.
- Assist in reviewing and analyzing project changes to assess their impact on cost estimates and adjust pricing strategies accordingly.
- Ensure compliance with RWNL's safety and quality standards during all preconstruction phases.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: FIRST YEAR EXPECTATIONS & ONGOING EXCELLENCE
- Support the successful submission of bids for 90% of projects identified as strategic priorities.
- Develop proficiency in RWNL's estimating and project management tools, including Aspire.
- Build foundational knowledge of landscape construction techniques and materials.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, or a related field is preferred.
Proven Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in construction, landscape estimating, or a related role is a plus but not required.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
- Basic understanding of Landscape Construction methods, materials, and processes.
- Familiarity with estimating software such as Aspire, Procore, or similar tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
