At Flagler County we aspire to be the catalyst that makes us an employer of choice.Position SummaryIncumbents in this position are responsible for assisting the Senior Systems Administrator with the design, development, maintenance, support, integration, troubleshooting, and all administrative functions of Flagler County's databases and servers. Incumbent is also responsible for assisting with the systems administration of all other systems assigned by the Senior Systems Administrator.Essential Functions
- Support the Senior Systems Administrator with the installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware and software systems.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and system performance.
- Supports the Senior Systems Administrator in developing and maintaining SQL Server maintenance plan, performance, security, backup and recovery provisions.
- Monitor and maintain SQL integration points and resolve Tier 1 issues as needed.
- Perform ETL (Extract Transform & Load) solutions to support organizational needs and requests.
- Audit databases to ensure integrity and accuracy.
- Support organizational SQL reporting and data analysis needs.
- Assist in maintaining system security by monitoring system logs for security breaches, unauthorized access or vulnerabilities.
- Assist in implementing and enforcing security policies and protocols.
- Perform routine system updates, patches and upgrades.
- Assist with the backing up, restoring and testing of data and systems.
- Assist the Senior Systems Administrator with implementing and managing backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Collaborate with departments to implement technical solutions to support business objectives.
- Assist in evaluating and recommending IT hardware and software purchases.
- Provide Helpdesk support to end users for everyday systems administration related issues.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
- Pursues continuing education for technical and professional development.
Additional Job Duties
- Supports the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) when activated as required.

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related course study preferred.
- Three (3) years of work experience in information technology in a role such as Jr. Database Administrator, Jr. Systems Administrator, IT Specialist, CS Specialist, or related work field.
- One (1) year of work experience must be directly related to the management, maintenance, or use of MS SQL Server preferred.
- Experience writing T-SQL statements as well as PowerShell, JavaScript, Python, or other scripting languages preferred.
- Basic knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Strong understanding of computer systems, networking, and IT infrastructure.
- MCSA: SQL Server certification preferred.
- MCSE: Data Platform and MCSE: Business Intelligence certifications are preferred.
- Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
- Criminal Justice Information Systems Level 2 Certification or ability to obtain.
- Any equivalent combination of related training, education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
