The Kansas City Autism Training Center's Astra Day School is seeking a dedicated and responsible Preschool Earlycare Support. This is an hourly-pay position, 7:20 - 9:20 Monday through Friday, paying $19/ hour. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about working with young children and have a strong commitment to fostering a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment. The Early Care Support staff will be responsible for preparing the classroom, greeting children and parents, monitoring and engaging with children, and following our classroom protocols to ensure a smooth start to the day. We are science-driven Key Responsibilities: •Punctual Arrival: •Arrive at 7:20am to greet early care students and ensure a welcoming and engaging environment by 7:30. •Classroom Preparation and Care: •Set up the classroom for the day, including arranging toys and learning materials •File previous day's data sheets and prepare new data sheets on clipboards •Return materials to correct place in room and building •Parent Interactions: •Greet children and parents upon arrival, helping to create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere for all students •Clearly note any information communicated by parents on the clipboard for the Lead Teacher •Communicate positive child experiences to parents in person and via an app (Basecamp) •Child Supervision and Engagement: •Monitor and actively engage with children during early care hours, promoting positive social interactions and activities •Teach to the values and preschool lessons, including kindness and assent. •Follow Astra classroom protocols to maintain a consistent and safe environment for all children •Follow plans provided by Program Director or develop plan •Record Keeping: •Accurately record the arrival times of children and own job task allocation •Collect and maintain classroom data as required •Complete Ouch and Accident Reports as required •Support with Toileting and Diapering: •Assist children with toileting needs and provide diapering support as needed, ensuring hygiene standards are met Qualifications: •Previous experience working with young children as a nanny or in a preschool or childcare setting is required •Strong communication and interpersonal skills •Ability to work collaboratively with a team and maintain a positive, professional demeanor •Reliable, punctual, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment •Must pass a background check and provide references Physical Requirements: •Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds •Ability to sit on the floor, bend, squat, and engage in physical activities with children •Must be able to move quickly in case of emergency To apply, please submit a brief cover letter detailing your experience and why you are interested in the Early Care Support position at Astra Day School to Kim Campos, [email protected] KcATC will not discriminate in its employment decisions on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, disability, protected veteran status, and any other status protected by applicable local, state, or federal law.
