Job Description

Position Overview

The Technology Operations Manager will be responsible for supporting the Chief Information Officer and the Technology Team to deliver best-in-class technology services. The Technology Operations Manager will embrace operational excellence, continuous improvement and innovation. The successful candidate is willing to dive into the details, and relishes the challenge of finding ways to work smarter and more cost-efficiently.

This position is based at the KIPP NYC Shared Services Team (SST) office in midtown Manhattan and will travel to the other KIPP NYC schools (Harlem, Bronx, Brooklyn) each month. The Technology Operations Manager will report to the Chief Information Officer and may serve as part of the IT Leadership Team. The role will also work closely and collaboratively with teachers, school leaders and the KIPP NYC Shared Service Team departments, including Human Resources, Finance, Operations, and Teaching & Learning. The role additionally will have management responsibilities for external vendors; budget management, grant management, and procurement optimization.

General Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

The Technology Operations Manager will support the Chief Information Officer in leading the KIPP NYC Technology Team. Together, they will be responsible for all day-to-day Technology Team initiatives. This individual will be responsible for identifying and implementing best practices and being a thought leader and subject matter expert on technology, an innovation driver, and an in-house counselor on all technology issues.

* Maintain, monitor and manage relationships with key vendors. Ensure contract terms are met.

* Ensure correct issuance of Purchase Orders, receiving of equipment, processing of invoices and ensuring proper payment and asset/cost allocation to appropriate budgets.

* Monthly reconciliation of credit card purchases

* Support lifecycle and license management by creating and maintaining financial models and forecasts.

* Support all aspects of technology initiatives including ideation, design, scoping, bidding, selection, procurement, lifecycle management and disposition/recycling.

* Maintain inventory of Educational Technology applications and EdTech Application model in conjunction with IT, TLS and Legal departments.

* Maintain current understanding and knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations specifically as they pertain to New York state and student data privacy.

* Manage and maintain E-Rate applications, forms, bids, and billing to maximize the eligible funds from USAC through the E-Rate program.

* Review, draft, recommend modifications to KIPP NYC technology policies and procedures as needed; share relevant external drivers around Governance, Risk, and Compliance changes with internal stakeholders

* Support the Regional Leadership Team and CIO in research, recommendation, development of solutions for integrating technology that supports instruction and curriculum

* Oversee annual technology OpX and CapX budget of $7M+, including revenue-related process and fund accounting tied to the federal eRate program and other funding sources

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree required

* Minimum 5+ years of work experience, tech related field

* Exceptional project management skills with an ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously

* Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic environment

* Track record of providing outstanding customer service

* Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships with stakeholders across functional and organizational lines

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, data science

* Understanding of non-profit financial modeling and accounting

* Continuous-improvement mindset, with the creativity and versatility to work productively in a fast-paced environment

Additional Information

Compensation and Benefits:

KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $80,340 - $92,700 per year. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role, NYS initial or professional certification, and longevity within the KIPP network. KIPP NYC will evaluate a candidate's years of experience, certification, and longevity at point of hire to determine the step/level a new hire will be placed within our teacher salary scale.
