A. BASIC PURPOSE

This position is responsible for providing assistance with the preparation and serving of meals and cleaning the kitchen by performing the following duties.

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist with the preparation of meals.

2. Assists with storage and receipt of food goods received.

3. Cleans dining room and kitchen at all times.

4. Reports problems in writing (Incident report) to Food Services Manager.

5. Cleans up including but not limited to dishwashing, cleansing, and sanitizing equipment and systematic cleaning of major appliances.

6. Assists Cooks with catering duties and driving the van and canteen when necessary.

7. Maintains a safe and sanitary environment for food preparation and storage under required conditions.

8. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

9. Adheres to agencys policies and procedures.

10. Attends trainings as required by The Salvation Army.

11. Acts as role model within and outside the agency.

12. Maintains a positive respectful attitude.

13. Communicates regularly with supervisor about food preparation, cafeteria and catering issues.

14. Consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of position.

C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Six month to one year working as a Kitchen Aid.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

1. The individual must not participate in any form of substance abuse or show evidence of use while performing his/her duties or while present on Salvation Army property.

2. Must be a person of high integrity, beliefs, and lifestyle, and in agreement with The Salvation Armys mission statement

3. Ability to work independently and without daily immediate supervision

4. Ability to work in a team environment, and multi-task required duties.

5. Must be prepared to encounter a variety of assignments and timelines.

6. Be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and information.

7. Must have an open, welcoming and helpful presence and attitude with all people.

8. Knowledge of The Salvation Army practices, policies and organizational resources.

9. Must be punctual, organized, reliable, honest and responsible.

D. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.

2. Specific vision abilities required by this position include color vision.

3. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.

4. Ability to reach overhead.

5. Ability to operate telephone.

6. Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

7. Ability to operate a computer.

8. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
