Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Highly professional and dependable
- Familiarity with proper conditions and food storage, the ability to understand the needs of children with food allergies, and to implement methods of food cross- contamination avoidance.
- Ability to follow and prepare sufficient quantity of foods for Academy children
- Possess a Food Handler's License or willingness to obtain
- At least one year of institutional cookingfood ordering experience highly desirable
- One or more years of experience working with children, highly desirable
- Ability to speak, read, and write English. Basic math skills required for measuring and calculating serving portions
Essential Functions
- Requires mobility and standing on feet for extended period in the kitchen.
- Plans and prepares snacks and meals in accordance with posted menus and nutrition regulations.
- Determines meal and snack count and distributes food to each classroom.
- Removes trays and leftovers from classrooms and disposes accordingly.
- Performs weekly food and supply inventory; submits list of needed items to Management.
- Orders food and supply items from approved supplier, within budget set by Management.
- Checks-in supply deliveries to ensure accuracy of order placed.
- Ensures that all state and local health department, licensing, safety and nutritional requirements are met; follows standards of personal hygiene, safety, and sanitation and ensures that other staff in kitchen do the same.
- Keeps kitchen, including appliances, cabinets and all inventory, organized and clean.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, training sessions, and academy events as requested.
