This vision embodies our commitment to being a welcoming, inclusive, and mission-driven parish, excited to see how God will continue to work through us in the coming years.Primary Function:The Kitchen Assistant of the Friendship Room (Community Meal Program) will be central to the mission of the Center of Charity, ensuring compassionate and non-judgmental service to all who seek support from our community. Given the Center's volunteer-driven foundation, the Assistant will assist in daily operations, nurturing an environment of respect, trust, and inclusivity that reflects the values of All Saints. This role involves working closely and directing volunteers to contribute creatively and independently, fostering a sense of community and shared mission. This role reports directly to the Coordinator of the Friendship Room. The community meal program operates Monday through Saturday with meal service at 4 pm.Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in overseeing daily operations with a calm and supportive presence.
- Ensure the dining area is orderly and welcoming for all guests.
- When the Coordinator is not present assume his/her duties and responsibilities.
- Assist and support the coordinator in overseeing volunteers and guests to foster collaborative and positive relationships.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities, including assisting in daily operations and overseeing multiple tasks to ensure a smooth and welcoming environment.
- Compassionate Leadership: Skilled in creating a welcoming environment by engaging with volunteers and guests, fostering positive relationships, and providing clear, compassionate communication. Able to guide volunteers effectively while building trust and collaboration to support the Center of Charity's mission. Ability to engage and support both volunteers and those served in a compassionate, non-judgmental, and cooperative manner
- Culinary and Nutrition Knowledge: Proficient in cooking with mandated training in nutrition (e.g., Serv-Safe certification) to maintain high standards in food safety and quality.
Education and Experience:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in social work, Nonprofit Management, Hospitality, or a related field preferred.
- Certification: in food safety and nutrition, such as Serv-Safe, preferred.
- Experience: Community Service: 1-3 years of experience working or volunteering in a community service, social work, or nonprofit setting. Prior experience leading or coordinating volunteers in a community or faith-based setting.
