Job Description :

* Plan and prepare snacks and meal in accordance with licensing Bureau of Community and Health Systems, Child Care Licensing Division (LARA), Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACRP), Great Start to Readiness Program (GSRP) guidelines.

* With direction from the Director will purchase food and supplies necessary to prepare the planned menus for the appropriate number of students and staff.

* Prepare, edit and submit to the Director a monthly menu (on a 4-week rotation.) Menu is due the Friday before the last week of the month.

* Prepare meals and snacks that are CACFP qualified in an efficient and nutritious way to prevent nutrient loss and ensure foods taste good and look appealing.

* Maintain and establish policies and procedures for standards of sanitation and safety in accordance with local and state health departments; maintain an orderly, sanitary and safe kitchen.

* Wear proper cooking attire (i.e. hat or hair net, gloves, etc.).

* Instruct others in proper food handling.

* Use proper dishwashing methods.

* Clean kitchen area.

* Alert the Director regarding unsafe equipment or situation in the kitchen.

* Ensure that food supplies are securely stored.

* Maintain up to date records of food allergies maintains an orderly, sanitary and safe kitchen

* Maintain all necessary records for CACFP and GSRP.

* Deliver meals and snacks to classrooms on schedule in an orderly, sanitary and safe manner.

* Good organizational skills.

* Ability to adapt to changes (i.e. food substitutions and numbers served).

* With direction from the Director maintains detailed cost control, inventory of food and needed supply logs.

* Assure the proper care and maintenance of all food service equipment.

* Manage food supply inventory to be able create and submit orders for food and supplies in a timely manner.

* Responsible to train the necessary staff utilizing ServSafe practices and procedures.

* Attend staff training as necessary or required.

* Attend appropriate staff meetings as assigned.

* To maintain and distribute an adequate clean linen supply for the Center.

* Other duties may be assigned.

* High school diploma or GED.

* Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology.

* ServSafe certified within 60 calendar days of employment.

* Experience with menu planning in accordance with the guidelines required by the Child and Adult Care Food Program.

* Knowledge of and ability to apply basic food preparation methods.

* Experience working with children.

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be physically present, regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk and hear.

* The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms.

* The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

* The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust, focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen and small numbers.

* Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.

* Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

* Ability to write routine reports.

* Ability to add, subtract and multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

* Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.

* Ability to solve problems in a professional manner.
