Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.KITCHEN LEADThe Kitchen Lead is a role responsible for, but not limited to, staff supervision and quality control in one of the food service outlets. This individual works directly with the outlet manager to properly delegate, complete, and ensure the quality of production in the kitchen and fills in as the key point of contact in the manager's absence. The Kitchen Lead is also responsible for overseeing the dining service in general and plays a major role in diner satisfaction by addressing concerns or complaints from the diner. The Kitchen Lead is also directly responsible for creating prep lists and orders. The Kitchen Lead supports the mission by upholding quality and safe food services in their outlet and ensuring the staff is performing to departmental and company standards.RESPONSIBILITIES:Source high quality ingredients with a focus on local, sustainable, and organic itemsPlan and create menus with the chef that have an emphasis on seasonal items and creative menu choicesPurchase and manage inventoryMonitor food qualityMaintain safety of physical kitchen and café spaceCater company events as neededCreate a pleasant and fun environment for SpaceX employees to meet and share a mealBuild a structure to deliver in-house catering and support company and special eventsWork with managers to plan services and productionSet and enforce standards of kitchen operationFill in at cooking stations as neededBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalency certificate3+ years of sous chef or culinary management experiencePREDERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Degree in culinary artsHigh volume production and catering experienceProven ability to create innovative menus on a daily basisAbility to perform under pressureExcellent communication skillsPossess a creative spirit and ability to make the culinary experience part of the SpaceX cultureADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassistedLifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this positionAbility to work all required shift hours, including overtime, and weekends, as neededCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Pay range:Level 3: $25.00/hour + $2.00/hour lead differentialYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
