Job Summary: 

Theobjectiveof the3-KnifeOperator is to safely set up, change over and trim the three sides on all booksrunning through the binder. The 3-Knife Operator works closely with the Binder Operator.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Read and understand work orderverifying correctbind type,bulk, trim size, marginsand run lengths.

• Learn to interpret the information on the work order and its contents.

• Follow daily running order provided by Scheduling Team.

• Communicate with Supervisor and SchedulingTeam as needed.

• Set up machine and perform qualitycutting that meets expectations.

• Maintain highthroughputby performing quick and efficient make-readiesandjobchangeovers.

• Inspect forquality defectsensuringquality standards are achieved.

• Maintainaccuratedata collections.

• Understandsubstrates, bulk,sigsize, trim size, and specified margins.

• Overseeall segments of3-Knifeoperation.

• Provide trainingto Bindery Assistantsin machine operation and safety;ensureBindery Assistantsperformsdutiesas necessary.

• Be sure allwasteisdisposed of properly.

• Perform preventative maintenance, general cleaning and upkeep of machine and auxiliary equipment.

• Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs to machine and auxiliary equipment.

• Assistmaintenance personnel with machine repair.

• Exercise initiative, ask questions and look for ways of improvingproductivity.

• Keepareasafe and clean.
