Job DescriptionJob Summary: Ichor is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process Engineer to join our team which will include overseeing our Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry testing program. This role involves a blend of responsibilities from technical project management and lab analysis, requiring a versatile and detail-oriented individual with a strong engineering background, excellent project management skills, and laboratory experience. The selected candidate will ideally have a bachelors degree in Chemistry or Materials Science (Masters Degree preferred).ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities: Test Engineering:
- Identify and integrate off-the-shelf components including controllers, pneumatics, sensors.
- Write software and design hardware to support the testing of manufactured assemblies.
- Power up and troubleshoot systems during startup phases.
- Stay up-to-date on product improvements and newly available technologies for integration.
- Maintain professional, healthy working relationships with internal and external customers.
Lab Analysis - TDGCMS (Thermal Desorption-Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry):
- Develop and manage a process flow and daily schedule for preparing and analyzing samples on the TD-GC-MS.
- Analyze environmental samples and report accurate results in a fast-paced environment.
- Separate, identify mass spectra, and quantify impurities and target compounds.
- Prepare samples and calibrate instruments.
- Perform upkeep and troubleshooting of instruments.
- Conduct method and process development.
- Assist in determining sources of problems and implementing corrective actions.
- Support internal customers on production and engineering teams by setting up and conducting material outgassing and experimental work.
- Recommend process improvements to improve production and lab efficiencies.
- Complete general laboratory paperwork and maintain reagent, gas cylinder, and consumable inventories.
- Clean, package, and ship sampling kits to customers for sample collection.
- Ability to work in a clean room environment.
Process Engineering & Technical Project Management:
- Manage new product introduction and production support engineering for specific products during the transfer from design to in-house or outsourced production.
- Interface with design, process, test, reliability, and manufacturing engineering to solve product issues and production problems.
- Develop and sustain process improvements to reduce production costs and increase yields.
- Improve design engineering workflow to reduce inefficiency and delays.
- Manage engineering projects, initiatives, and processes including coordination of engineering resources to meet project deadlines and requirements.
- Provide technical expertise within the engineering team and project execution team.
- Drive process improvements and develop enhancements to product lines.
- Investigate and recommend production floor process changes.
- Balance customer and company needs in support of the company's mission.
- Ensure the highest level of client satisfaction with our services and equipment.
QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Proficiency in PLC Programming (Twincat, B&R AS, Codesys, Siemens).
- Experience with HMI (Codesys VISU, Beckhoff HMI, Wonderware, Inductive Automation Ignition).
- Programming skills in PC environments (LabVIEW, Python, VBA, C, C++, C#, Java).
- CAD skills (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo).
- Basic chemistry knowledge and analytical chemistry lab experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a clean room environment.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles ranging from theoretical to procedural.
- Lean manufacturing process skills.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Ability to interact with internal and external customers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering (or similar) degree from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of engineering or related work experience with 1-4 years of relevant GC-MS experience preferred.
- Lab experience is a bonus.
