Salary: $21,975.00 AnnuallyLocation : Vincennes, INJob Type: Full-Time Support StaffJob Number: 202200593College/Division: Humanities DivisionOpening Date: 11/18/2024Closing Date: Continuous Description Lab Assistant I positions will report to the Director of the Academic Skills Center. The primary responsibility of this position is to offer academic assistance to students seeking help and to foster a welcoming and positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. Lab assistants will also monitor students in the tutoring lab to ensure they are using lab resources properly. This position requires flexibility, as both morning and evening hours may be required.Duties and Responsibilities Lead individual or group study sessions, assist with general student questions, offer computer assistance, etc. Manage the front desk which includes the use of basic office skills such as filing student work and handing out resources (textbooks, calculators, etc.) Follow procedure to open the lab in the morning and/or close it down in the evening Maintain a working knowledge of all hardware (computers, printers, scanners, etc.) and software available in tutoring location and monitor both for needed updates Disseminate tutoring data to VU faculty or staff upon request Assist faculty and staff with requests that align with other job responsibilities Perform related duties and responsibilities as required Required and Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree, preferably in (1) English or a related Humanities field for ASC employment (2) a scientific discipline (math, chemistry, physics, etc.) Work independently or in a group setting Operate and troubleshoot computer equipment and a variety of computer software programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, AccuSQL, Blackboard, Pearson MyLab, etc.Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing Work with a wide variety of students in a high traffic area Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Interested applicants should submit a Vincennes University application, resume/cv, and full contact information for three professional references.At Vincennes University we recognize that our group health insurance is a key component of our total compensation package.
