Responsibilities:

Under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), responsibilities are related to a project focused on characterizing novel mouse models of Alzheimers disease. Characterization will focus mainly on tissue processing for immunohistochemical and biochemical analyses.Responsibilities include the following: collection of mice tissue, processing and staining of tissues by immunohistochemistry; conducting routine molecular biology assays, such as Western blots, ELISAs and PCR; maintaining data records Must be proficient in handling supplies, equipment, and inventory, and have the ability to maintain and organize meticulous data records related to experiments. A strong aptitude for detailed solution preparation is essential, alongside exceptional verbal and written communication abilities. Basic to advanced computer literacy skills are desirable attributes that will support the lab's operational needs. This role is ideal for a collaborative, detail-oriented individual who is comfortable working in a research environment. Qualifications:

Required:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English Ability to prepare brain and other organ tissues for immunohistochemistry. Ability to prepare staining of tissue slices with antibodies and stains for various markers. Ability and willingness to work with animals (mice). Handling lab supplies, equipment, and inventory. Ability to maintain and organize data records for experiments. Ability to prepare solutions. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and two years of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences and one year of laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

Preferred:

  • Ability to process whole slide scanning microscopy of the stained sections. Ability to process confocal imaging. Ability to process cell quantifications and counts using Bitplane Imaris software. Skills in basic or high level computer literacy. Basic or high level computer skills.
  • Bachelors degree in a scientific field.
  • 1-3 years Previous laboratory experience.
  • 1-3 years Experience in animal behavior.
  • 1-3 years Experience in histology/microscopy.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $22.66- $23.99 (Hourly).
