The Culinary Arts Lab Assistant will manage and provide the necessary supplies (perishable, non-perishable and repairs) for the programs housed at The Kitchens at Reynolds, while fulfilling the organizational standards set forth for Culinary Arts programs and education by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation Accrediting Commission ( ACFEFAC ). The duties of this position will include: continuous food and beverage inventory management (including inventory file recordkeeping, purchasing, and storage, while maintaining high standards of excellence); assembly and issuing of requisitions for lab classes including segregating of course specific materials and continuous small-ware inventory management. This position will also be responsible for purchasing supplies using the States procurement process (eVA) to include maintaining eVA and Virginia Community College System ( VCCS ) Shared Services compliance, calculation of food and beverage orders, maintaining requisition database, submitting work order requests, catering assistance, and budget awareness. The Culinary Arts Lab Assistant also assists with lab facility monitoring and status reporting, including routine sanitation inspections, preventative maintenance inspections and completing necessary corrective actions; and participation in other duties as assigned by the Program Head. Special Assignments: May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's/Required Qualifications: Knowledge of educational culinary laboratory environments, to include product knowledge Demonstrated ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications, including Excel spreadsheets and Access databases Knowledge of purchasing processes; budgeting and reconciliation; and receipt and log management Demonstrated ability to utilize a high level of organizational skills Communicate and work effectively with multi-cultural populations that support diversity, cultural understanding and inclusion Demonstrated ability to lift and/or move items of 50 pounds independently, while maintaining safety standards Current ServSafe Food Manager Certification is required High school diploma or equivalent Selected candidate must be able to pass the colleges pre-employment background screening Additional Considerations: Experience preferred within a restaurant; however we train exceptional candidates the necessary skill requirements of the position Current experience with the Canvas Learning Management System is preferred.
