JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS) is seeking a Lab Coordinator to coordinate operational activities in the Energy Institute's research laboratories. The coordinator will ensure laboratory security, efficiency, safety, and quality control; serve as the safety officer; assist with planning labs, experiments, and research projects; provide support to students and other researchers; ensure equipment and material availability; maintain relationships with agencies, contractors, vendors; comply and report project funding, sourcing, and research progress data; assist with development of grants and proposals.

Primary Job responsibilities include:

* Coordinate operational activities in the research laboratories within the EMS Energy Institute; provide support services to researchers, faculty, students, and technicians.

* Oversee laboratory security, efficiency, and quality control; develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols.

* Serve as laboratory safety officer; ensure laboratories are maintained and operated in compliance with safety regulations; coordinate activities with IACUC, environmental health, and other safety compliance officers; maintain records.

* Provide assistance in implementation of bench and pilot test experiments.

* Set up and demonstrate equipment technology; troubleshoot problems with equipment, perform maintenance of equipment.

* Assist with laboratory related details on research and grant proposals.

* Coordinate placement of orders for laboratory supplies conforming to research budget and funds.

* Provide academic activity support; guide students during lab activities; review, analyze, and advise on project feasibility.

* Support activities related to facilities management and facilitate set up/tear down of laboratory setups.

* Report laboratory use and research progress data, including testing activities and technical issues; write reports and maintain logs.

Required Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree and at least three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$46,400.00 - $67,300.00
