Job Description:
Laboratory Coordinator. A position for a full time, twelve-month , Administrative and Professional faculty member for the Departments of Anthropological Sciences, Geology, Geospatial Science, and Physics is open with the appointment to begin on September 1, 2024 or after.
M.S. degree in Anthropology, Engineering, Geology, Geospatial Science, Geography, Physics, or a related discipline. Experience in maintaining and repairing laboratory and field equipment. Those with interest in, or experience in teaching are encouraged to apply.
Duties include:
* Maintaining and repairing instrumentation (e.g., unmanned aerial systems [UAS], GPS units, 3D printers, instruments for geological analysis, anthropology field equipment, electronic sensors in Physics, etc.) in a timely manner to enable students to utilize equipment in courses and research in Geology, Geospatial Science, Anthropological Sciences, and Physics.
* Assisting students and faculty in conducting research, including that associated with the UAS Lab, Virtual Reality Lab, GIS Lab, Tree Ring Lab, Arctic Geophysics Lab, etc.
* Directing the Earth Science Museum: maintaining/planning exhibits, organizing student volunteers and workers, and planning outreach events for internal and external audiences.
* Teaching introductory laboratory courses (3-6 hours per semester) in Geospatial and Earth Sciences to fill the gap in our teaching personnel. Courses might include Introductory Geology labs, unmanned aerial systems, and physical geography.
Minimum Qualifications:
M.S. degree in Anthropology, Engineering, Geology, Geospatial Science, Geography, Physics or a related discipline. Experience in maintaining and repairing laboratory and field equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching introductory laboratory classes in Geology, Geospatial Science, and/or Unmanned Aerial Systems.
