Harlem Hospital Center has been a bedrock of the Harlem community since 1887. Duties & ResponsibilitiesSUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Performed all routine Blood Bank testing including: pre-transfusion testing, compatibility testing, investigation, transfusion reaction, resolving complex red cell antibody problems, key operator of the Ortho Provue instruments.1. Responsible for ordering blood products and maintaining inventory of blood products.2. Laboratory set-up, specimen preparation and testing, prepares and sets up equipment, reagents and workstation.3. Prepares samples to be tested according to blood bank procedures.4. Performs manual and automated tests as needed.5. Records and prepares test materials properly before each test according to departmental procedures.6. Ensures appropriate materials and reagents are available and valid (in date) for scheduled tests.7. Identifies and prepares specimens in accordance with appropriate lab procedures.8. Collects all specimens from the control station promptly.9. Completes scheduled and stat tests in a timely fashion.10. Verifies that patient's identification on the sample corresponds to the patient's demographic on the accompanying requisitions to ensure accuracy of recording for final test results.11. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsQualification Requirements1. Valid license as a clinical laboratory technologist issued by the NYSED; and2. Candidates must also meet one of the qualification requirements of a laboratory supervisor as outlined in Title 1 0, Section 58-1.4 of the New York Public Health Law.NYC Health and Hospitals offers a competitive benefits package that includes:
