Title: Labor Supervisor Reports to: General Manager Based at: Tehachapi, California Type of Employment: : Full time, permanent, 6-days a week, and some additional hours depending on workloadand priorities. Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Responsible for the labour force results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
- Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
- Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; and benchmarking state-of-the-art practices.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Minimum 3-5 years experience as a labour supervisor in a greenhouse environment.
- Post secondary education in a related field will be considered an asset.
- Ability to communicate effectively (written, oral and spoken) in English; additional languages (i.e. Spanish, will be considered an asset).
- Familiarity with Priva computer software.
- Must be familiar with horticultural nomenclature.
- Must have a strong understanding of plant growth and interaction with varying environmental conditions and requirements.
- 48+ hours/week based on workload, could be starting as early as 6am
Physical Abilities:
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to deal with challenging employees and/or situations.
