Laboratory Assistant - Hartford Healthcare : Job Details

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting clinical laboratory in specimen processing including: recording, storage, retrieval and disposal. Assists in selected technical processing within the histology laboratory. Maintains inventory, acts as specimen courier, assists in waste disposal, keeps work areas clean and assists in equipment maintenance throughout the entire clinical lab. REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

No prior experience necessary.

License and Certification:

N/A

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

Education:

High School diploma, with some additional college credits.

Experience:

Previous clinical laboratory experience is preferred.

License and Certification:

N/A

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use).

Must be able to follow procedures with minimal supervision. Basic computer knowledge in order to enter/retrieve data. Must be able to pay attention to detail.
