DESCRIPTION

Founded in 1965, the Department of Psychology at UC San Diego is one of the premier experimental psychology departments in the country. Currently, there are 28 faculty, 22 researchers and postdocs, 30 staff members, 1500 undergraduate students and 46 graduate students. The department has over 30 active federal contracts/grants and annual expenditures total over $10 million across federal, state, and gift funds.

Dr. Eshin Jolly is seeking a full-time research coordinator to begin Jan 2025.

The lab uses interdisciplinary behavioral, neuroimaging, and computational methods to understand how we learn about, represent, remember, and share information about other people through social interactions.

The position presents an opportunity to work very closely with the PI to launch the lab in its first year and build skills in: designing experiments, collecting, and analyzing data, and presenting and publishing projects.

The laboratory coordinator's responsibilities will center on research activities including recruiting, scheduling, and testing participants using computerized online, in-lab, and fMRI experiments. The coordinator will also be responsible for managing the computational resources necessary for analyzing behavioral, video, and fMRI data. The coordinator will maintain and purchase lab equipment, maintain and update IRB protocols and participant databases, communicate with collaborating sites, coordinate social media outreach, hardware, and IT infrastructure for the lab. The coordinator will also organize and attend weekly lab meetings and is encouraged to attend other scientific talks and be a member of the intellectual community at UCSD.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience assisting with social science or cognitive neuroscience research.

* Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and two years of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in psychology, linguistics, and/or cognitive science and one year of laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Demonstrated skill interacting with colleagues and other adults in a professional setting.

* Strong organization skills and excpetional attention to detail.

* Highly self-motivated, able to solve problems independently and with initiative.

* Strong motivation and ability to quickly learn new technical skills.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

* Job offer is contingent upon a satisfactory clearance based on background check results.

* Duties may require direct contact with children (defined as individuals under the age of 18). Completion of the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) form is required.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $45,999 - $54,079 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $22.03 - $25.90

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
