DescriptionAdvance Testing Company, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Laboratory Manager to work out of our office in Schuylerville, NY. Advance Testing, an established New York-based construction materials testing and inspection firm with several offices throughout the Northeast, has an opportunity available for a Laboratory Manager to manage and oversee the daily operations of our Construction Materials Testing Laboratory in Schuylerville, NY. Advance Testing Company performs testing and inspection of materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, reinforcing steel, asphalt, fireproofing and fire stopping. Typical assignments include projects related to construction of roads, bridges, airports, tunnels, commercial and industrial buildings, schools, government and military sites, and material fabrication and production facilities. Laboratory Manager - RESPONSIBLITIES
  • Oversee daily operations of Construction Materials Testing Laboratory in Schuylerville, NY.
  • Conduct laboratory testing in accordance with ASTM and AASHTO standards for soil, concrete, asphalt and aggregates efficiently and accurately.
  • Manage day to day laboratory operations, including sample management and testing schedules.
  • Train technicians to applicable ASTM and AASHTO Standards.
  • Provide Leadership & Supervision.
  • Assist and participate in AASHTO and CCRL inspections.
  • Assist in maintaining AASHTO accreditation including technician evaluations.
  • Oversee equipment calibration, maintenance and inventory.
  • Review and approve reports for accuracy and client compliance.
  • Testing and Reporting as required.
  • Communication with clients regarding sample status, specification, inquiries, etc.
  • Daily Communication with Advance Testing Management and Operations Team.
  • Travel for certifications and training are required.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain multiple certifications for soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates (Cost of certifications are covered by Advance Testing Company, Inc.).
  • Other related duties may be assigned.
Position RequirementsLaboratory Manager - QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum Experience of 3 years in Construction Materials Testing industry.
  • AS Degree in Geology, Engineering Science, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Technology, or similar, OR completed coursework toward a BS Degree in Geology, Engineering Science, Civil Engineering or similar.
  • Previous Management or Supervisory experience Preferred but not required.
  • Experience with construction materials testing and/or construction industry.
  • Strong focus on safe work practices and adherence to all safety protocols.
  • Computer proficient with experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work independently.
  • Travel may be required based upon specific assignments.
  • Requires a valid, clean driver's license.

All positions may require lifting and/or physical activities, including lifting of up to 75 lbs., walking/working on uneven surfaces, and the possibility of driving to and from project sites. The majority of the Laboratory Technician's work is conducted indoors, however may encompass all weather conditions as our services continue year-round. Work hours vary, but include day, night and/or weekend shifts.
