Description:
Seeking a contract technician for a microbial media preparation lab.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a team setting to prepare microbial and plant growth media in a laboratory environment.
Conducting media preparation using sterilization equipment, such as autoclaves or mediaclaves, and dispensing machines, such as automated liquid handlers, is a key component of this role – which can be learned through on-the-job training.

Responsibilities:
• Fill media orders by weighing components, operating sterilization equipment (i.e. autoclaves, mediaclaves, filters) and dispensing equipment (i.e. automated liquid handlers, plate fillers)
• Maintain laboratory material stock and order supplies as necessary
• Disassemble, clean, and reassemble media transfer equipment
• Maintain equipment in a safe and efficient state
• Review and update orders in media ordering system
• Maintain a clean and orderly workspace
• Communicate with team and internal customers to schedule activities
Qualifications:
• Experience working in a laboratory or manufacturing environment
• Ability to schedule activities and manage stakeholder expectations
Preferred Qualifications:
• An Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in scientific or related field
• One year or more experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment
• Experience with aseptic technique
