Job Description
Performs various manual labor tasks in connection with restoration, ditching, and drainage. Assists in installing, repairing, deconstructing, and restoring sites, digs trenches/ditches by hand, helps to set/repair site surface. Assists with drainage tile tie ins. Performs traffic control and is knowledgeable regarding international hand signals for traffic control. Acts as a safety spotter for Operators. May assist CDL Driver in securing loads on trucks and trailers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Installing erosion and sediment control devices.
- Driving wood stakes into the ground with sledgehammers.
- Applying grass seed. Fertilizer and lime to work areas
- Sweeping and shoveling mud and debris off construction roads
- Installing T-post and safety fencing
- Installing geo textile fabric below aggregate installations
- Cleaning track equipment
- Loading and unloading construction material and tools
- Spotting heavy equipment while in operation
- Removing debris from right of way accesses
- Keep truck cabs clean
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must be able to operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, shovels, and a variety of other equipment and instruments
- Must be willing to travel within a multi-state area.
- Must pass a pre-employment and random drug tests
- Must pass an acceptable background check
- Must have a valid Driver's License and be insurable.
- Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
Tier 1 Laborer (4 to 5 years minimum experience in required field)
- Consistently on time for and prepared for shift
- Good workplace attitude
- Understand and follow direction from supervisor with little to no supervision
- Must have working knowledge of industry standards
- Show leadership skills
- Capable of operating necessary tools and equipment
- Skidder, Roller, Morooka, Compactor, Rock Truck/Haul Truck
- Track skid steers: with buckets, 4' forks, 6' forks, brush hog, trencher, broom, jackhammer, spreader, rockhound, Harley rake, and disc attachment
- Setup/Utilize GPS Lazer/Rover, Hold grade, etc.
- Rollers, Street Sweepers, Marooka, Straw Blowers, Tractors
- Follow all safety procedures for multiple clients
- Must have transportation to and from job site
- Required knowledge of equipment capabilities
- Must show integrity in the workplace
- Physical capability to perform assigned tasks
- Operating experience (mini ex. Skid steer, roller etc.)
- Required equipment spotting experience
- Motivated to complete tasks
- Communication with foreman and crew
- Ability to complete tasks without direction of supervisor
- Must have basic computer skills
Tier 2 Laborer (2 to 3 years minimum experience in required field)
- Consistently on time and prepared for shift
- Good workplace attitude
- Understand and follow direction from supervisor
- Must have a minimum working knowledge of industry standards
- Show leadership ability
- Follow safety procedures
- Must have transportation to and from job site
- Experience working near equipment
- Physical capability to perform assigned tasks
- Required equipment spotting experience
- Motivated to complete tasks
- Willingness to learn basic computer skills
Tier 3 Laborer (0 to 1 year experience)
- Consistently on time and prepared for shift
- Good workplace attitude
- Follow direction from supervisor
- Physical capability to perform tasks
- Willing to learn required job tasks
- Follow safety procedures
- Willingness to learn basic computer skills
Ideal candidates will also possess:
- OSHA Safety training
- OQ (Operator Qualification) training valid on Veriforce
- Ability to operate utilized equipment with extreme efficiency
