Position Description
Perform any combination of various basic tasks associated with the operation of the custom metal fabrication shop and do so in a safe and quality manner with the best quality possible. Primary duties will include preparing shop for upcoming projects, assisting with fabrication shop tasks as directed, unloading and loading material, and cleaning work areas.
Job Responsibilities
* Work closely with Shop Superintendent, Fabricators, and Fabrication Shop Helpers to ensure daily and project related production needs are met safely and efficiently by assisting with various tasks.
* Safely and efficiently operates all fabrication shop equipment such as mechanical shears, press brakes, rollers, ironworkers, drill presses, saws, and forklifts.
* Takes direction and effectively communicates with supervisors based on project needs.
* Thinks creatively and applies results to safely and efficiently complete tasks.
* Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
* Maintains work area in clean and tidy manner.
* Other duties as may be assigned.
Job Qualifications
* Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor.
* Must be able to utilize basic math and read a tape measure.
* Must be at least 18 years of age
* Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively
* Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments
* 40 or more hours per week with possible weekend work
* Background check and drug screen based on job location/requirements
