Description Summary: The position of construction laborer consists of performing tasks involving physical labor at highway and heavy construction projects, tunnel and shaft excavations. It also consists of operating hand and power tools of all types, cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, and cleaning up debris. The laborer works under direct supervision and is expected to work long hours with frequent standing, moving, and climbing. The laborer is subject to possible exposure to extreme year around environmental conditions and extensive travel is required. Responsibilities:
- Cleaning and preparing construction sites.
- Loading and unloading materials and equipment.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
- Practice workplace safety and maintain a safe working environment for themselves and their co-workers.
- Effectively communicate to all site personnel.
- Follow written and verbal instructions.
- Daily use of saws, torches, pneumatic hand, and power tools.
- Welding, cutting, and fabricating pipe on as need basis.
Qualifications:
- OSHA 10 is required.
- A valid driver's license.
- Welding experience, preferred
- Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to construction sites.
- Able to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
- Lift/carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
