Laborer/Skilled Laborer (Meters Department) - Springfield Water and Sewer Commission : Job Details

The Springfield Water and Sewer Commission seeks qualified applicants for laborer positions to work out of its Colton Street facility in Springfield in the Meters department. Typical duties include, but are not limited to, responding to service requests; reading, inspecting, and inventorying meters; investigating leaks; and, servicing shut-offs and turn-ons. The successful applicant will work in the field and also work in an office.A high school degree is required. The typical work schedule is 7:00-3:30. Second shift is 12:00 (noon) - 8:00om. Assignment to second shift will be made in accordance with the union contract.A current state Driver's License is required.Candidates who are offered positions will be required to complete a pre-employment criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and pre-employment drug test. Candidates must be available for on-call rotation as needed including nights and weekends. Starting hourly rate is $21.63 to $25.01 depending on experience. Promotional opportunities are regularly available.
