Job Summary and Qualifications

Seeking an experienced RN Lactation Specialist to join our dynamic team of healthcare professionals. This role holds specialized knowledge and clinical expertise in breastfeeding and human lactation and provides comprehensive breastfeeding education, support and assistance for women during the prenatal to postpartum periods and will be dedicated to the NICU. What you will do in this role:

  • You will provide evidence-based information and education to inpatient and outpatient breastfeeding mothers.
  • You will support practices that promote breastfeeding.
  • You will provide comprehensive mother/baby feeding assessments and feeding plans using current and approved techniques and devices that safely support breastfeeding.
  • You will provide information on community resources
  • You will participate, as needed, in the weekly mother's support group, the monthly prenatal breastfeeding classes, and staff education
  • You will collaborate with staff and providers to create a lactation feeding plan
  • You will audit records for maintenance of core measures and quality indicators
  • You will provide education to staff and providers on current breastfeeding best practices
  • You will utilize evidenced based literature to drive lactation policies and best practice
  • You will assist nursing staff with maternal & newborn care as required
What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
  • Current California Registered Nurse (R.N.) license.
  • Intl Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
  • BLS required.
  • A Registered Nurse who has one (1) year of full-time equivalent or more of acute care experience as a Registered Nurse.
