AIP is looking for a Laundry Supervisor to work in Brownsville, TX.To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today!The Laundry Supervisor works under the supervision of the Assistant Facility Director and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of laundry operations. The Laundry Supervisor ensures that laundry services are performed efficiently and in compliance with all applicable regulations, including Performance Based National Detention Standards (PBNDS), American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, and safety protocols. The Laundry Supervisor manages staff, scheduling, coordinates daily workflow, manages inventory and ensures the facility's laundry services operate smoothly to meet the needs of the facility.Responsibilities
  • Directs the daily activities of the Laundry Lead and Laundry Workers, ensuring the efficient collection, sorting, and laundering of clothing, undergarments, linens, towels, and other items.
  • Assigns Laundry Workers to fold, inventory, and stock laundry items in storage, ensuring proper organization and accountability.
  • Conducts disciplinary paperwork as required in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Unit (CBA)
  • Oversees Laundry Workers in sizing, marking, altering, and repairing garments, including the replacement of defective parts such as elastic waistbands, pockets, and linings.
  • Trains Laundry Workers in garment repair techniques, including hand-sewing and the use of sewing machines.
Inventory Management:
  • Maintains accurate records of clothing, undergarments, towels, and bedding supplies.
  • Manages and documents inventory levels for laundry chemicals, ensuring proper tracking of usage.
  • Ensures the documentation of daily laundry operations, including weight of articles laundered, exchanged, damaged, or disposed of.
Operations & Equipment Management:
  • Operates industrial laundry machines, including washers and dryers, ensuring that appropriate water levels, temperatures, and cycles are used for each batch.
  • Conducts work orders as needed
  • Manages the loading and unloading of washing and drying machines, ensuring that all materials are handled properly based on cloth type.
  • Controls time and temperature settings for each drying cycle to ensure optimal results and prevent damage to clothing and linens.
Safety & Compliance:
  • Enforces safety procedures for equipment operation and the working environment.
  • Conducts regular safety inspections of all laundry equipment and the work area, ensuring a safe, clean, and orderly workspace.
  • Reports any mechanical failures, unsafe conditions, accidents, or injuries immediately to the Assistant Facility Director or PMO.
Scheduling & Overtime Control:
  • Creates and manages employee schedules, ensuring adequate staffing for laundry operations while controlling overtime in accordance with facility guidelines.
  • Follows Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
  • Monitors workloads and adjusts schedules as necessary to maintain efficiency and meet operational needs.
Order Management & Resource Allocation:
  • Orders necessary supplies, including laundry chemicals, replacement garments, and other materials, ensuring inventory is maintained at required levels.
  • Monitors stock levels to prevent shortages or excesses, ensuring proper resource management within budget constraints.
Quality Control & Distribution:
  • Ensures all laundered items are properly folded, sorted, and distributed in accordance with the facility's laundry exchange schedule.
  • Prioritizes laundry tasks as needed based on facility requirements or directives from the Assistant Facility Director.
  • Ensures high standards of quality, professionalism, and craftsmanship are maintained throughout all laundry operations.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Facility Director or PMO, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to changing operational needs.
Qualifications
  • US citizen or person lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence.
  • Must have resided in the US for the last five (5) years (unless abroad on official US government duty).
  • Must be able to obtain a favorable Suitability for Employment determination through ICE.
  • Must have a Social Security card issued by the Social Security Administration
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID prior to start date.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Experience preferred in large scale laundry/tailor operation.
  • Must be able to operate industrial laundry washing machines, dryers, and sewing machines.
  • Must be able to follow and enforce Standard Codes of Conduct pertaining to interaction with staff and detainees.
  • Work areas will include laundry room and detention areas.Areas may be hot and humid.Laundry/tailor may be exposed to hot equipment and wet floors. May be exposed to industrial chemicals and solvents that are used in the laundry area. Frequently near mechanically active equipment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to pass extensive background investigation and drug testing. Random drug testing will be performed.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Special Skills:
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to interpret standards and policies.
  • Computer skills including proficiency in various Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Word, Excel,
