Title: Laundry Worker

Duration: 3-6 months Contract
Payrate: $20/hr on W2 without benefits
Job Description: - Housekeeping unit provides quality cleaning services hospital wide and ensures that direct care units are stocked with clean linens and clothing. Laundry launders linens, towels and clothing, observing infection control procedures, as required.
Role & Responsibilities: - Receives soiled linen from hospital wards and floors; scales input and out-going laundry carts and logs weight daily; checks and sorts incoming laundry.
- Loads and unloads soiled/washed linen, blankets and garments into washing machines and dryers; starts, operates and stops washers and dryers.
- Determines wash cycle, adds soap solutions; pulls out washed/dried linen and garments.
- Folds, counts and stores linen; marks and re-marks numbers on clothing, sizes on patients' clothing, and numbers to identify the ward units.
- Maintains laundry area and staff bathroom/shower in a clean condition.
Performs other related duties as assigned: - Completes yearly HSH mandatory training that includes but is not limited to Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution (CPMR), Infection Control, Fire/Safety and Patient's Rights and Safety.
- Attends in-service trainings, staff meetings, pertinent workshops and participates in drills.
Equipment to be used: - Washing machines and dryers. Mop, broom and any other cleaning equipment.
Skills/abilities: - Ability to operate laundry machines and equipment; set proper wash/dry cycle required for different laundry; give and follow oral instructions; instruct and supervise others in the operation of laundry equipment and care of laundry. Occasional lifting exerting of a maximum of 50 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 25 pounds. May require significant stooping, walking or standing.
- Knowledge: The care and operation of laundry equipment and the uses and methods of preparing various solutions.
- Education: None.
- Experience: One (1) year of commercial or institutional laundry experience. Some of the experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the operation and care of commercial or institutional washers, extractors and tumblers or driers.
