About the job Law Enforcement Instructor Responsibilities:
- Provide beginner and advanced courses in law enforcement tactics, officer safety, policies and procedures
- Write and prepare lesson plans, course materials, evaluations, and management recommendations in a grammatically correct and concise manner
- Rate and score students/ officers/ and officials to determine pass/fail within departmental standards
- Continuously analyze training policies and related processes, making recommendations as needed
- Perform administrative support such as class scheduling, record keeping and property management
- Must be able to work rotating hours and shifts to include days, evenings, and weekends when required
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or Police Science, exercise science, physical education, kinesiology or equivalent.
- Minimum of 10 years LE experience
- Completion of Law Enforcement Instructor Training Program (LEITP) or equivalent
- Ability to work rotating hours/shifts
- Experience in developing/executing lesson plans & exercises in LE setting
NOTE: 5 + years LE instructor experience can be a substitute for education, where 1 year of experience = 1 year of collegiate level education.
