Job Description
The Collin County Clerk is seeking candidates to fill the position of Lead Clerk in the County Court at Law Criminal Court section. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of county clerks that are assigned to support the criminal courts or provide service and support for filing information and bonds. Duties include daily audit of timesheets, writing goals and objectives, performing employee evaluations and training staff on criminal court duties or on intake, bonds, warrants, balancing, and customer service duties based on assignment. This position will be responsible for maintaining fee schedules and ensuring the accuracy of fees, researching and following legislation that impacts the department, blood and search warrants for criminal cases, establishing and maintaining relationships with other departments, including meeting with County Court at Law Judges, as needed. This position will also be responsible for the daily monitoring of court dispositions, entering exhibits, expunctions, and non-disclosures, daily monitoring of all payments and filings in criminal cases, and reviewing cash bond releases based on assignment. Trains personnel and ensures compliance with statutes, rules and office policies. Additional responsibilities include the creation and maintenance of spreadsheets for statistical analysis and writing procedures. This position may require travel to conferences for continuing education in the duties and responsibilities of the County Clerk. May assist in other areas, as needed.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalency. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Proficiency in MS Windows 7, MS Office 2010 or higher and Power Point applications is required. The candidate who fills this position must have ability to read and understand legal documents, local and state codes and legislation in the criminal courts. Knowledge of the Odyssey Court Management database is strongly preferred.
A level of education equivalent to four years of high school and a minimum of two (2) years' of experience is required. Four (4) years' experience preferred. Candidates must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
