Position Summary:

The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) ignites the entrepreneurial mindset with unique learning experiences that empower students to own their futures. We are searching for a motivated, collaborative leader with strong communication and organizational skills to join our team as Lead Events & Volunteer Program Associate.

The Lead Events & Volunteer Program Associate is a dual reporting position and will report to both the Director of Events and the Senior Manager, Volunteer Programs. NFTE's events team organizes and implements all of NFTE's annual events including NFTE's National Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge, World Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge, Annual Fundraising Gala, Founders Forum Pitch Competition, Educational Summits, and regional Signature events and competitions. The volunteer team works to ensure volunteer programs are implemented with fidelity and to share best practices across the organization with the goal of driving high program quality and donor engagement and cultivation.

The Lead Events & Volunteer Program Associate will collaborate with development, marketing and program teams to produce high quality events related to competitions, volunteer programs, and other thought leadership engagements (i.e. Summits, Gala, Signature events). These events include key components of the NFTE curriculum, as well as the opportunity to engage with existing supporters and forge new relationships with people who value entrepreneurship education. They are a forum to celebrate the dedication and success of our teacher corps, showcase the innovative ideas and businesses created by our talented students and alumni, recognize dedicated supporters and volunteers, expand our network, and bring in much needed funding to support our work.

Volunteerism is vital to the success of all NFTE programs and the student experience. Through internal qualitative and quantitative studies, we know that NFTE students who benefit from time with volunteers increase their knowledge gains by an average of 9% and students share that time with caring adults is among the most valued and impactful parts of the program. We also know that volunteers benefit from participating, too. Corporate volunteer programs are proven to help employees develop stronger professional and leadership skillsets and better prepare for future leadership roles. Further, data show that 89% of employees believe that companies who sponsor volunteer activities offer a better overall working environment than those who do not and 87% of volunteers say there is an overlap between their time volunteering and their financial support.

The position will be evenly split, 50/50 between the Events and Volunteer Programming, though exact amounts may shift based on time of year.

Role and Responsibilities:

Support NFTE Events and Volunteer programs in collaboration with Program, Advancement, Global Programs, Alumni/Post-secondary teams to develop and implement engagement activities related to program, curriculum, recognition, cultivation, grant and stewardship deliverables, as well as unique opportunities for multi-regional and national partners.

Work with Marketing/Communications team to create, plan and standardize marketing, outreach and appreciation campaigns and materials including outreach on NFTE social media channels and local email blasts as needed.

Provide quantitative and qualitative data on events and volunteer efforts to support funding requests and grant reports.

Conduct or participate in After Action Reviews for all events/volunteer programs, which will involve using the AAR to identify and promote best practices, and to report any issues in need of troubleshooting to the appropriate supervisor.

* Event Production:

* Work with the Director of Events to develop and deliver outstanding events for NFTE students, teachers, volunteers, supporters, and audiences of all types

* Coordinate and book travel for events staff to site visits and events

* Assist with dissemination of event information to staff, including links to NFTE staff for group hotels and event booking details

* Assist with volunteer recruitment, management and training for all national events.

* Assist with physical setup, tear down, and follow-up for all events

* Support volunteer program execution in designated region for high priority stakeholders and events (EY Connect Day, Innovation Days, Own It Sessions, Innovation Days, Youth Entrepreneurship Summits, etc.)

* Support volunteer program production nationally and globally when needed

2. Event Participant Management:

* Serve as primary point-of-contact for NFTE students and their families attending national and events

* Support Regional Program and Global Program staff in charge of student management for regional and global events

* Produce and distribute participant guides for student competition events (including but not limited to printed collateral, submission forms, video guides, waivers, etc.)

* Review and coordinate all student submissions for National Challenge, including assignment of penalty points as needed

* Support the Events Director to develop and update both submission platform for National, Regional and Global Challenges

* Oversee booking of travel for students/alumni and their guests (via travel agent if possible)

* Coordinate teacher travel when included in event budget

* Coordinate speaker/judge/honoree travel as needed (via travel agent if possible)

* Compile and write all student profiles for the program and manage dissemination of that content to Marketing/Comms team

* Manage Volunteer Correspondence/registration (pre, during, and after the volunteer experience)

3. Events Budget Management:

* Assist with management of the Events division budget by keeping costs down and tracking all expenses

* Research, book and contract with photographers, videographers, florists and other vendors as needed

* Process all check requests and submit for Events Director approval in a timely manner

* Coordinate stipend and award payments to students, teachers and alumni as needed

* Upload receipts and details for reconciliation of Director's credit card each month

4. Events Collateral and Materials:

* Order and assemble all NFTE branded collateral (swag) for events, including managing inventory of same

* Help create and print materials not outsourced to Marketing (registration signage, student expo signage, winner sheet & envelope, Timecards, tabulator forms, etc.)

* Source supplies for and manage nametag printing and production

* Compile and distribute welcome packets and informational material to attendees

* Compile judge packets

Distribute judge feedback to program staff for student review

5. Volunteer Program Management:

* Lead and deliver best-in-class experience for volunteers and NFTE participants, i.e. strong participant experience at all points of cycle: recruitment, training, execution of session, and post session follow-up

* Support the Senior Manager of Volunteer Programs to develop and update both curriculum-aligned and general volunteer session materials, including event flyers, handouts, presentation decks and toolkits, i.e. EY Connect Day format and toolkit, Innovation Day format and toolkit, etc.

* Update and maintain volunteer orientation and training materials for a variety of volunteer opportunities, including hybrid options

6. Volunteer Systems Management:

Support Senior Manager Volunteer Programs in managing HandsOn Connect/ Salesforce, NFTE's volunteer management system

* Manage data input, integrity and reporting on a monthly basis

* Collaborate with users and IT and HandsOn Connect Support to continually improve system

* Strengthen volunteer communication and workflow system to enhance volunteer experience (pre, during, and post experience)

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or associate degree preferred

Additional Requirements:

* Proven experience in events and volunteer program management a plus

* Enthusiasm for the NFTE mission

* Some experience in membership or marketing

* Some experience with schools or teaching or working with educational institutions

* Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal and teamwork skills

* Excellent written and oral communication skills

* Detail oriented

* Familiarity with internet research

* Customer service oriented preferred

* Proven ability to think strategically, problem-solve and manage multiple projects simultaneously

* Familiarity and/or interest in business concepts and educational policy preferred

* Ability to work evening hours (specifically October-November and May-June)

* Ability to travel (at least 6-7 times annually)

* Experience with Salesforce or another volunteer/customer relationship management system a plus

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

* Canva or Photoshop/Adobe Creative Suite skills a plus

* Capacity to deal with ambiguity

Working Environment

* This is a full-time national position. Preference is for candidates to be withing reasonable proximity to New York City, and all viable candidates must be based in one of the following states in which NFTE is currently able to support payroll: AL, AZ, CA, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, MA, MD, MO, NC, NJ, NY, NV, PA, SC, TX, VA, & WI.

* This position is remote - utilizing employee home office locations.

* This position may require a presence in the field working to support programs and collaborate within the K-14 space. Occasional travel required, generally domestic with a potential need for international travel.

* Mileage/Transit reimbursement provided for approved travel.

* Relocation assistance is not available for this role.

Compensation: $60,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Generous and comprehensive benefits as detailed below.
