Salary: $19.82 - $25.87 Hourly Location : La Mirada 90638, CA Job Type: Hourly/Part-Time/At-will Job Number: 2025-20 Department: Community Services Opening Date: 02/27/2025 Job Description Approx. 25 - 39 hours per week (summer season) Approx. 10 - 25 hours per week (non-summer season) Hourly/Part-Time/At-Will Positions This recruitment is open until the needs of the department are met and may close without prior notice. ** Important dates and information below under SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION ** Under general supervision of the full time Aquatics Management team, Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center, the Lead Guest Services Associate will organize, supervise, oversee, and evaluate daily office operations and staff. The Lead Guest Services Associate will collect, and control revenue generated through facility operations, prepare budget and attendance reports and is responsible for training and supervising multiple Guest Services Associates. Typical Duties Performed (Examples do not include all duties, which may be assigned.)
  • Plans, develops, and supervises a variety of activities regarding the operation of Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center.
  • Ensures excellent guest experience and demonstrates effective customer service skills.
  • Accepts payments for instructional classes, admissions, group reservations, and facility rentals.
  • Responsible for high quality fast casual Splash! Food Service operations.
  • Completes sales of various membership and group/event packages.
  • Trains, supervises, and mentors Guest Services Associate staff.
  • Oversees front counter operations.
  • Produces reports for daily credit card, cash and check transactions.
  • Assists with supervision and scheduling of part-time Guest Services Associates and other staff.
  • Works effectively with the public in explaining fees, hours of operation and policies.
  • Maintains accurate records; prepares reports and written communication as needed.
  • Assists pool personnel with emergency procedures.
  • Assists with Citywide special events and programs.
  • Adheres to City and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Must possess excellent customer service skills. Must be at least 18 years of age. Knowledge of: Basic arithmetic, office procedures, Microsoft Excel, Word, Cash handling and accounting procedures. Ability to: Make computations rapidly and accurately. Operate a cash register quickly, efficiently, and accurately. Read, understand, and carry out written and oral directions. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, community groups, staff, and other agencies. Exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact with staff and the public. Assign tasks when needed. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., and work varied shifts, including nights and weekends. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: One year of cashier experience is required. Graduation from high school or the equivalent is required. Customer service, supervision, computer and office skills are highly desired. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: Possession of a valid California Driver License is required. Possession of a valid CPR, AED, and First Aid certificate is required within one month of employment. Possession of a Food Handler's Certification is required within one month of employment. Certification will be provided by the City. Supplemental Information Splash! Aquatics Center is open year-round. Positions require availability to work varying shifts on days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Candidates with open availability will be given preference when hiring. IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:
  • Mandatory staff training is scheduled on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, through Friday, May 2, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Buccaneer Bay water park at Splash! Aquatics Center is open from May 17 to September 27, 2025. Base your availability to work during this period.
Candidates will be required to pass a City administered pre-employment requirements which include live scan fingerprinting and a medical examination as part of the Selection Process. Candidates who do not pass any portion of the above processes will be disqualified and removed from proceeding in the selection process.
