Job DetailsJob Location Bryan, TX Position Type Full Time Job Shift Any Description The Lead Medication Aide administers medication to the residents in a safe and efficient manner, EXCEPT for the administration of intramuscular, intradermal, intravenous and medications given via nasogastric or gastric tube, and performs assigned treatments. He or she will document, chart, and report relevant observations as established by the guidelines, regulations, and facility policies and procedures. He or she will also help residents with activities of daily living, such as hygiene, toileting, feeding, moving safely to activities or functions, and caring for the resident's environment, including laundry and housekeeping. He or she must be sensitive to the needs and desires of each resident and make an attempt to improve and enrich their lives. Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Adheres to and conveys a philosophy that supports the dignity, privacy, independence, choice, and individuality of residents
- Adhere to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) privacy policies and procedures
- Responsible for the supervision of any attendants working with him/her
- Notify the Director of Resident Care if any Residents' condition worsens, or if unable to handle a Resident problem
- Responsible for remedying any staffing problems during his/her shift
- Maintain confidentiality of all information pertaining to clients, families and employees
- Supervise the Resident's medication program under the direction of the Director of Resident Care
- Completes necessary care documentation (written and or electronic) timely and accurately
- Dispenses medications under the direction of a licensed nurse according to established procedures
- Supervises the Residents medications under the direction of the service plan according to established procedures and regulations
- Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
- Redirection, monitoring and observation that are integral part of a personal care plan
- Redirection and intervention for behavior, including observation and monitoring
- Incidental household services that are an integral part of a personal care plan in the above items
- Responsible for observing clients, reporting these observations and documenting observations and care performed
Qualifications & Physical Requirements:
- Demonstrate the ability to make appropriate professional judgments
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
- Able to and provide covered care services according to the client's care plan, respond appropriately to client's needs and reports changes in the client's condition to the licensed supervising Resident Care Director
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Occasional use of hands, wrists and fingers and lifting or moving up to 75 lbs may be required
- Movements such as stooping, crouching, bending, kneeling, climbing and reaching are occasionally required
- This position requires spending a majority of the workday standing and walking, with occasional sitting
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision
- Ability to provide covered PCA services according to the person's PCA Care Plan
- Ability to operate a motorized vehicle and have reliable transportation for work in the community
- Shows leadership ability, is able to work well with others and has a positive personality
- Attuned to the requirements of meeting the needs of the senior population
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED; preferred
- Must be at least 18 years old
- At least 1 or more years of experience in an assisted living community preferred
- Certified as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in this state; preferred
- Certified as Registered Medication Aide in this state
