Job Description
Assists in the coordination of specimen processing, order entry, order inquiries, result and report inquiries, collection requirements, specimen/order problems, and supply inventory for the Phlebotomy section of the Laboratory. Performs venipuncture procedures on patients. Collects, prepares and labels specimens for examination. Provides guidance and training to employees. May oversee the work of trainees at the request of the supervisor and/or manager.
Job Responsibility
* * Assists in the coordination of specimen processing, order entry, order inquiries, result and report inquiries, collection requirements, specimen/ order problems, and supply inventory for the Phlebotomy section of the Laboratory
* * Performs venipuncture procedures on patients; may be required to perform the more difficult cases.
* * Collects, prepares, and labels specimens for examination
* * Ensures delivery of specimens to the Accessioning area.
* * Identifies, documents and alerts appropriate medical staff involving incorrect or inappropriate specimens and/or orders.
* * Provides guidance and training to employees
* * May oversee the work of trainees at the request of the supervisor and/or manager.
* * Demonstrates working knowledge of the Laboratory computer system(s).
* * Performs clerical duties involved in specimen collection for diagnostic studies.
* Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification
* High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
* Certification in Phlebotomy from a national organization, preferred.
* Minimum two (2) years of experience in Phlebotomy, required.
