Fulton Schools of Engineering is seeking a Learning Experience Designer (LXD) who is committed to the success of our students and faculty, as well as is passionate about digital learning in higher education. As an LXD, you will have the opportunity to work with a collaborative and diverse team to engage our faculty and other subject matter experts on the design and development of learning experiences across multiple modalities (e.g., online, hybrid, on-ground). In addition to guiding the process of aligning course objectives with instructional materials, you will be recommending, piloting, and supporting effective and creative uses of instructional technology, as well as designing, maintaining, and revising digital materials to meet the needs of our diverse and growing number of students. This position will be located primarily at the Polytechnic campus with additional posting to the Tempe campus, secondarily.Essential Duties
  • Leads collaborative engagement with faculty in the design and development of interactive and instructionally-sound digital learning experiences that are accessible and inclusive to all students
  • Facilitates the alignment of course objectives with assessments and instructional resources
  • Independently manages the design, development and delivery of instructional materials, interactive and multimedia technology driven components, and other support materials consistent with established design and development processes to ensure flexibility and reusability
  • Provides design and development assistance and direct support to faculty and academic units creating and teaching online, hybrid, and on ground courses
  • Coordinates production of instructional materials with subject matter experts (SME), graphic artists and multimedia developers
  • Evaluates course design and outcomes using available data and procedures to articulate recommendations for revisions
  • Consults with clients and team members on digital design projects and instructional technologies
  • Develops course syllabus and storyboards including, but not limited to sequence of instructional concepts, required media, tutorials, and assignments
  • Develops appropriate project evaluation mechanisms which include data collection, analysis and assessment design and deployment
  • Designs, delivers, and implements training programs, workshops and seminars on topics related to pedagogy/andragogy, multimedia, and other instructional technologies
  • Provides leadership and guidance to departmental staff for course design and development; and provides university-wide leadership in best practices, creation, and delivery methods for online and hybrid courses
  • Develops and/or maintains digital resources such as tutorials, reference material, design standards, content resources, templates, and tools for instructional development
  • Manages proactive Quality Checks to ensure successful implementation, (e.g., proctoring, accessibility, copyright, media, assessment)
  • Remains abreast of technology directions, initiatives, and trends within scope of expertise to provide ideas, guidance, and recommendations
  • Coordinate and assume other duties or projects as assigned or directed
Desired Qualifications Evidence of a Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or a related area is strongly desired for this position. Experience in:
  • Designing, developing, implementing, and revising digital learning experience and course materials in a higher education environment, in particular engineering-related subjects
  • Designing, developing, implementing, and revising for-credit and not-for-credit learning experiences
  • Applying learning theories to the practice of design and development
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and team members
  • Teaching in online, on ground, hybrid in K12, higher education, or other settings
  • Managing multiple projects. (e.g., managing time, establishing priorities, distributing responsibilities, meeting milestones and deliverables)
  • Troubleshooting and supporting instructional technology tools
  • Designing with industry-leading products (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Articulate Storyline, H5P) for authoring of instructional materials, interactives, presentations, web pages, web applications, and tutorials
  • Designing, developing, and delivering workshops and training Using current learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas, Coursera, edX)
  • Taking a customer service approach to all interactions with faculty, students, partners, and internal stakeholders
  • Working in groups, demonstrating a willingness to contribute ideas, maintain flexibility, and support changes within the organization
  • Performing detailed tasks and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
