Zachry Group is seeking a Senior Leave of Absence Specialist to provide subject matter expertise and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of employee leaves of absence, ensuring compliance with company policies as well as federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves coordinating with employees, managers, and external vendors to facilitate a smooth leave process, from initiation through return to work. Please note based on candidate's previous related experience and overall qualifications different job titles can be utilized in the final offer. Responsibilities
- Facilitates the employee leave of absence and ADA accommodations, programs, policies, and processes,
- Manages all administrative aspects of leave-of-absence to include tracking hours, managing medical documentation and leave decisions, distributing employee and business communication and entering HRIS updates. Collaborates with internal teams to coordinate accommodations for employees returning to work.
- Interprets, administers, and provides guidance on FMLA/ADA programs and processes in accordance with all applicable federal and state statutes. Provides leadership in handling difficult or complex problems. Collaborates with management teams to provide reasonable accommodations as needed.
- Provides education and advice on FMLA/ADA accommodations to employees, leaders, and business partners.
- Identifies and recommends methods to update, simplify and enhance processes, procedures, and technologies.
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives to ensure services are effectively delivered.
- Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsREQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree with a professional HR/Business Administration or H.S Diploma with equivalent working experience.
- Extensive working knowledge of federal, state, and local leave laws such as ADA, FMLA, USSERRA, etc.).
- Minimum 3 years of related experience in leave of absence administration.
- Superior customer service skills, with effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Speaks, reads, and understands Spanish.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must possess a continuous improvement mindset; identify, recommend, and improve current processes.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize and multitask as well as adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to work independently, think and plan and bring issues to attention of management.
- Confidentiality is critical to success.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 or more years of leave of absence experience.
- Understanding of leave of absence processes and governmental requirements.
- Good technical skills and understanding of HRIS systems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, use of arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension. May be required to lift, carry, and move objects safely. WORK ENVIRONMENT Will work in a general office environment. Capable of operating and functioning in a fast-paced work environment. Must possess a vision (corrected or uncorrected) that allows for clear visibility from 20 inches or less.
