ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the direction of the Total rewards Officer in support for all employee leave of absence matters. Interprets leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws such as the Family Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc. Assists with all cases/claims to include general administration, comprehensive case management and program compliance with FMLA and all related employment laws. Provides guidance to management, employees and Human Resources Business Partners/Liaisons on all forms of leaves of absence cases and Disability requests. Assists with all aspects of leave and accommodations, including light duty assignments and temporary assignments. Provides extensive case management and administrative aspects of disability retirement and/or claims. Organizes all medical information and ensures that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Employee Privacy guidelines are closely monitored and effectively executed. Tracks employee hours regarding leave and coordinates all aspects of employees' return to work. Ensures that all alleged fraudulent activity of all leave cases. Works closely with the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Service Center. Creates reporting metrics and analytics for all employee leave. Meets regularly with HR Business Partners Coordinator to review the status of submitted claims and develops strategies for resolution. Works closely with the Retirement Analysts to facilitate Line of Duty and Ordinary Disability cases. Meets regularly to review the status of cases/claims and develops legally sound strategies for a mutually beneficial resolution. Assists in the creation and facilitation of leave administration training programs. OTHER FUNCTIONS:1. Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment, such as a computer and telephone. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office environment which involves contact with the staff and management.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or closely related field and three (3) years of experience in Human Resources, Labor Relations or Leave Administration with two (2) of the years managing leaves accommodation cases (Family Medical Leave Act, Disability, etc.) or any combination of experience or education/training which enables one to perform essential job functions.
