Legal Assistant/Calendar Clerk: Prestigious real estate management company seeks a Legal Assistant/Clerk to assist the VP/Litigation Counsel. I. Summary of the Position:
The Legal Assistant/Calendar Clerk maintains the legal calendar and assists the Special In-house Litigation Counsel and will also be involved in any and all other work, duties and responsibilities required by the Legal Department attorneys for the satisfactory fulfillment of the position, in accordance with departmental and management needs.
II. General Responsibilities:
Satisfactory, timely and accurate completion of all tasks and activities described above, in accordance with attorneys and departmental needs
Prepares rent demands, letters, motions, settlement agreements, and default judgments
Maintains court calendars, files documents on NYSCEF and maintains deadlines
Provides assistance and support to other departments on an as-needed basis
Performing various other tasks, including liaison work, etc.
III. Measures of Accountability:
In accordance with the guidelines described above, the Legal Assistant/Calendar Clerk will be held accountable for the following expectations:
Timely and accurate completion of all tasks and activities
Performing related general administrative duties in an accurate manner
Appropriate liaison activities with Residential & Commercial departments, as well as outside parties
Prepares files for trials and other proceedings
IV. Hiring Specifications:
Minimum 3 years of related work experience, preferably in a law firm specializing in real estate, civil litigation and/or landlord/tenant practice
Strong computer skills (Word; Excel; PowerPoint; etc.)
Excellent general administrative skills
College degree preferred in an appropriate area, such as Paralegal Studies
Effective communications skills (verbal & written)
Highly developed organizational and prioritization skills
Ability to function effectively in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented work environment
