Position Summary
The Legal Assistant provides support to Partners and/or Associates with legal administrative tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Compose letters
- Transcribe dictation
- Correspond with clients
- Submit state and federal filings electronically
- Manage attorney calendars
- Prepare pleadings
- Schedule out of town trips and depositions
- Communicate with Judges, Court Officials, and outside counsel
- Open and sort mail
- Set up new client files and make time entries for attorneys in ProLaw
- Submit check requests
- Answer phone calls for multiple attorneys
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior experience in administrative and legal tasks is preferred
- Must have strong knowledge of current state and federal electronic filing guidelines
- Experience with ProLaw software is preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and strong computer skills
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Teamwork-willingness to help others when needed
- Professionalism in the workplace
