HOURS: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week
Pay Rate: AFSCME R22 ($20.10 - $27.59) based on experience
JOB SUMMARY: Provide administrative and clerical support necessary for intake and processing of legal cases.

- Ability to type with speed and accuracy.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Prepare and process paperwork necessary for Court procedures.Prepare felony and misdemeanor warrants and petitions.Prepare and file various legal documents related to abuse/neglect petitions and terminations. Prepare writs for abuse/neglect hearings. Work closely with Judicial secretary to coordinate and schedule hearings. Effectively communicate with witnesses, colleagues, defendants, and defense counsel. Answer phone calls: take notes/messages and redirect calls when appropriate. Update office files. Work closely with the IT department to implement and maintain an electronic filing system.Assume the day-to-day responsibilities of the other Confidential Legal Secretaries as required.QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:- High school diploma or GED required.
- Knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Employment is dependent on background check, criminal history, and drug screen. Applicant must complete County application form.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Work is performed under the general direction of the Prosecuting Attorney.
WORK LOCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Work is performed in an office environment.Position will require some travel between Paw Paw and South Haven office locations.
