The Legislative Department is seeking at least two policy professionals to join the City Council's Central Staff team as Legislative Analysts (position classification: Strategic Advisor-LEG BU).
This is an exciting opportunity to immerse yourself in the City's legislative process and directly support elected officials in achieving their policy objectives. Central Staff analysts provide policy analysis to councilmembers on a wide range of topics that impact the city's residents, workers, and visitors. In this role, you will create work products that are critical in advancing the Seattle City Council's legislative priorities and policy initiatives, provide briefings for councilmembers, and make presentations to Council committees.
We are currently seeking individuals with backgrounds in public safety, human services, public health, transportation, land use, labor policy, and/or labor relations. However, individuals with more general experience in policy development and/or analysis are also encouraged to apply.
The Legislative Department may consider applicants from this recruitment process for regular and temporary Legislative Analyst openings that may become available within the next eight months.

ABOUT CENTRAL STAFF:
In supporting the work of the City's legislative branch, Central Staff brings counterbalance to the executive branch of government and the Mayor's Office. We effectively engage with the other branches of government on behalf of the City Council or its individual members. Our team provides independent, objective policy and fiscal analysis for all nine councilmembers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Legislative Department is located at Seattle City Hall, 600 Fourth Ave., 2nd Floor, Seattle, WA. This position requires a minimum of four days in the office, with flexibility based on operational needs.
TOTAL COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is exempt from the FLSA and the Seattle Civil Service System. The full salary range for this position (Strategic Advisor LEG-BU) is $104,567.04 - $187,105.68 annually. The starting salary for this role has been identified as $130,000 - $165,000 annually with opportunities for increases as responsibilities and performance advance.
