Duties include hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating student employees and participating in training and development with, and for, lower-classified clerical-technical employees. This position may be cross-trained with other clerical-technical employee(s) to meet the needs of the library. The position works cooperatively and in support of the Collections and Access Services Team and the Research and Instruction Services Team and performs duties as a part of cross-functional work teams.The anticipated start date of this position is November 2024. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed.Position Type: StaffRequired Education: Associate degree in any field from an accredited academic institution, or equivalent. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Equivalency for education is two years of full-time related work experience equals one year of education.Required Work Experience: 2 years of clerical work experience in an office or library setting. 4 years relevant work experience required in lieu of associate degree.Experience using relevant staff functions of a library management system.Required Licenses and Certifications: Physical Demands:

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited academic institution.Work experience in an academic library or other college/university setting.Essential Duties/Responsibilities: 1. Perform all duties listed in Library Assistant 1 and 2 position descriptions as needed.2. Manage all aspects of interlibrary lending and borrowing for both FLITE and KCAD library through ILLIAD, DOCLINE, RapidILL, and Get It Now; planning and managing workflows for provision of fast, cost-effective, and seamless resource sharing services.3. Maintain local settings and administrative data in ILLIAD including preferred lender strings, policies, patron records, lender data, etc. Updates status of loaned and borrowed items in the library management system (Sierra) as appropriate.4. Perform complex bibliographic searches in multiple FLITE databases and other online repositories (e.g., HathiTrust) to track down and verify citations and locations where requested materials can be obtained within the US and internationally.5. Fulfill specialty document delivery requests received via phone, email, or in person.6. Select lending sources (other libraries, Copyright Clearing Center's Get It Now service) based on OCLC WorldCat holdings, cost, reliability of lender, and other factors.7. Print pull slips for physical items to be retrieved for lending to other libraries and gathers the materials; scanning print and microform materials using Scan Pro 3000 and Zeutschel OS1500 book scanner to create digital files for lending.8. Retrieve electronic copies of requested journal articles from FLITE's online resources when vendor licensing permits interlibrary lending.9. Utilize software to create and manipulate digital documents into formats requested by borrowing libraries (e.g., PDF and TIFF).10. Package physical ILL materials for delivery and return to other libraries through FedEx, MeLCat delivery, USPS and commercial services.11. Transmit digital files to other libraries using Odyssey and Article Exchange software systems.12. Serve as FLITE's primary contact to ILL vendors and the ILL staff of other libraries.13. Initiate workflow for billing/payments to, and from, other lending libraries with the Office of the Dean.14. Coordinate and monitoring copyright compliance of borrowed requests through the Copyright Clearance Center.15. Update serial holdings in the DOCLINE database; processing holdings errors in SFX and OCLC serial holdings records to appropriate staff for correction.16. Provide first-level response to ILL and MeLCat questions and problems identified by FLITE librarians and staff and library users.17. Process requests for books and other physical items loaned to and borrowed from other MeLCat libraries using the library management system (ALMA) and MeLCat (InnReach DCB) software.18. Generate documentation and procedures for workflows and any policy changes within Circulation and Access Services using the LibGuides platform.19. Document, report, and analyze statistics to aid decision-making.20. Maintain confidentiality of designated information.21. Recommend for hire, train, supervise and evaluate student employees.22. Participate in training of, and with, other clerical-technical employees.23. Participate in Library and University-wide meetings and committees.24. Demonstrate understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.25. Attend and represent FLITE at select professional, statewide, and national library convenings.26. Attend annual trainings and development sessions to maintain awareness of current and emerging issues and trends.27. Engage in cross-training sessions with other library assistants (CTs).28. Participate in annual work plan/duty roster determination, progress reporting and evaluation process with supervisor.29. Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.30. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, or other equivalent office software.7. Intermediate proficiency in using library management system functions relevant to the position.8. Intermediate proficiency in using other software applications needed to perform assigned tasks.9.
