Salary: Depends on Qualifications Location : Cape Girardeau, MO Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 202400371 Division: Academic Affairs Department: Kent Library Opening Date: 11/08/2024 Position Summary Library Assistant II, Acquisitions - Receiving Kent Library Full Time Position Kent Library's Acquisitions Unit is responsible for ordering, receiving, initial processing, and payment of all collections materials purchased, licensed, and subscribed to by Kent Library. The unit has two Library Assistant II employees - one focused on ordering of materials and the other on receiving of materials Primary Responsibilities
- Maintaining files for all ordered materials and received items
- Locating, verifying, and editing of bibliographic and item records
- Creating and updating order records in the library management system
- Communicating with vendors regarding orders delayed, damaged, or non-received items
- Searching multiple vendor databases for hard-to-find items and placing orders
- Adhering to university standards regarding purchasing-card use
- Communicating effectively with internal and external constituents
- Problem-solving for colleagues, academic department faculty, and library users
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the library management system and business software
- Serving as designee for data entry and reconciliation for other p-card holders
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year library experience or demonstrated customer service experience
- Knowledge of cataloging standards or ability to learn and follow rules for describing library materials
- Evidence of research experience
- Able to learn and build software and technical skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel
- Evidence of attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work successfully independently and as a member of a team
- Ability to lift 30 pounds daily with or without accommodations
