The CT State Community College is developing a pool of applicants for potential part-time Library Assistant positions (up to 17 hours per week).These positions are on continuous recruitment and are filled on an as-needed basis, depending on specific department needs. You will only be contacted if there is a current need at the campus you indicated on your application and have met the qualifications, skills, and experience required for the position. Your applications will stay active for 1 year.Location:Multiple Campuses**This position is not remote**Please note that currently, not all campuses have an opening; however, we are accepting applications for all campuses within the CT State Community College.Position Summary:The Library Assistant performs support services in one or more library functions in the library or learning resource center of a Community College which provides library services to students, faculty, staff, and citizens. These functions may include: circulation; periodicals processing; acquisitions processing; interlibrary loans; reserves; online copy cataloging; basic reference and readers' advisory; and audio-visual equipment lending.The position provides services to assist the library in its support of the College's learning and instructional goals. The position may be required to provide coverage for the library at designated times in the absence of more senior positions.Example of Job Duties: Circulation.Interlibrary loans.General public service.Technical services. Candidates may perform some or all of the job functions.Minimum Qualifications:Associates degree, with preference for Library Technical Science or a subject area related to library services in the academic field.Successful Candidates must have: Experience with Librarianship functional areas.Experience with library patrons. Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. Experience with reflective, interactive, culturally responsive pedagogical teaching techniques. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years of related experience. $34.06 hourly.Application Instructions:To apply, you must submit a cover letter and resume.
