POSITION OVERVIEW - FULL-TIME Under the direction of the library Dean and the Research and Scholarly Communication Librarian, manage financial activities for the library in compliance with current regulations, ORU Purchasing policies, and generally accepted accounting principles, with an emphasis on the financial aspects of the library's acquisition of resources. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare budgets for the Dean to submit to the Provost.
  • Research for and ordering of all library materials.
  • Provide departmental budget information for various types of reports (including, annual IPEDS, bi-weekly budget snapshot, Library Annual Report, Board of Trustees Report, etc.).
  • Monitor budgets to insure accuracy of posted items and to know current available funds.
  • Navigate ORU financial system (Banner and ARGOS) to maximize library use of unrestricted and restricted funds. Prepare budget transfers and other financial actions as needed.
  • Retrieve and return items when requested by patrons on a rotating schedule b) back shift in the main area for proper spacing and to balance the space c) general upkeep of the space.
REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: Two or more years of college credit; an Associate' s or Bachelor's degree, with course work in Library Science, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. A combination of work experience and education may be considered. EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • One or more years of experience in library work, preferably with responsibility for budgets, payroll, cash management, and other related activities.
  • Working knowledge of automated financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Must be able to prioritize multi-tasks in an office environment with frequent interruptions. Good customer service, interpersonal, mathematical, verbal, spelling, and grammar skills are essential. Must be able to handle all types of situations confidentially and diplomatically.
  • Ability to meet people, work with students, faculty, and staff, and make sound decisions. Maintains a high level of confidentiality at all times regarding both student records and internally sensitive information.
