Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $16.63 - Midpoint: $19.95 (Hourly N3)Department/Organization: 219101 - University LibrariesNormal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:45 pmJob Summary: The Library Technician provides a wide variety of technical duties and customer assistance in support of library services in an operational unit or section of a university library. Uses library's automation system, various software packages, conventional library materials, and office equipment. May oversee the work of students and volunteers. Exercises judgment in the interpretation and application of library practices, rules, and regulations.Additional Department Summary: This position is responsible for creating purchase orders in the online system, reconciling department credit card transactions, managing and maintaining POs, supervising student workers or staff, placing firm form or recurring orders, monitoring acquisitions deposit accounts, and approving orders and invoices following established accounting procedures. In addition, this position performs copy-cataloging, advanced cataloging, and metadata remediation as necessary. The Library Technician will work within the Integrated Library System, OCLC, EBSCOnet, GOBI, Concur, and other technologies as necessary to efficiently and effectively complete work.Required Department Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and five years' experience working in a library setting or office environment. Bachelor's degree and three years' experience, Master's degree and two years' experience.Skills and Knowledge: Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of tools, cloud-based storage, and collaborative tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to communicate and work collaboratively with vendors and stakeholders. Ability to learn new systems and workflows.Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in library acquisitions or in an accounts payable environment. Familiarity and understanding of basic accounting practices and fund structures, tracking orders and expenditures, and Pcard purchasing procedures.
