Overview:

Join the USU Libraries as a Library Technician for Research Support. As a member of the Public Services Department, the Library Technician contributes to support for USU faculty, staff, and students to publish and preserve their research and make it globally accessible. In this role you will work with a team of library staff and student employees to support data services, the institutional repository (IR), open educational resources (OER), and other critical library programs and services.

This position reports to the head of Research Publishing and Impact, and is a 2-year, temporary full-time position eligible for excellent benefits including: 13 paid holidays, 12 days of paid leave and 12 days of sick leave per year, competitive health benefits packages, and a generous contribution of 14.2% (withoutan employee contribution) into your retirement. Responsibilities:
  • Assist with workflows and documentation for various projects related to data, IR, and OER
  • Provide support for requests from patrons
  • Oversee data entry and quality control
  • Contribute to assessment efforts through data collection and tracking
  • Hire, train, and supervise student employees
  • Provide user support including technical troubleshooting
  • Contribute to maintenance of content for website
  • Collaborate with colleagues and library-wide teams to support a variety of projects and activities
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or two years of related experience
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including keen attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines and complete work assignments with limited supervision
  • Ability to work collegially in a team environment and to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to experiment with new tools and technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change and remain flexible regarding work assignments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with supervision and training
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience working in a higher education setting
  • Project management experience including work with Airtable or other project management tools
