POSITION SUMMARYThe Creative Arts Therapist will deliver care throughout Wellbridge and is responsible for the day-to-day planning and implementation of Creative Arts Therapy on a licensed inpatient medically supervised stabilization and withdrawal program, rehabilitation program, and reintegration program. Carries out the Wellbridge vision, values, and overall strategic planning, clinical management, and patient care. Promotes LCAT service standards and creates a patient focused caring environment while addressing and meeting the individual needs of all patients. Fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with physician colleagues, nurses, and other healthcare team members.RESPONSIBILITIESClinical
- Demonstrate competency in the use of materials/modalities to facilitate self-expression, facilitate healing and enhance function.
- Demonstrates professional competency in group and individual therapies.
- Maintain understanding of current treatments, knowledge, and practices in addiction care and prioritize the use of best and evidence-based practices in creative arts therapy and related fields.
- Develop and maintain standard policies, procedures to ensure quality services and compliance with accrediting entities.
- Maintain documentation, patient files, and statistics as required by departmental policies and funding sources.
- Monitor supplies for Creative Arts Therapy center
Supervision and Support
- Model the Wellbridge philosophy of patient-centeredness, empowerment, and cultural proficiency and seek supervision from clinical staff.
- Maintain a safe and caring environment for patients that is conducive to the therapeutic experience.
- Recognize the need for patient care to be delivered in a culturally sensitive manner and model sensitivity to all staff.
Collaboration
- Support a culture of high quality of care across the organization and engage all staff in the value of creative arts therapy in addiction care.
- Work collaboratively with the physicians, nurses, and therapists to develop personalized treatment plans.
- Support efforts of Wellbridge research team to implement program improvement.
- Provide crisis support to patients as needed in emergency situations.
Planning and Coordination
- Participate in regular clinical team meetings and case conferences.
- Work closely with the clinical and advocacy teams to coordinate services to patients.
- Contribute ideas for growth and development of organization.
- Serve as a liaison and assist with community outreach/presentations.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSRequired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Creative Arts Therapy, Music Therapy, Drama Therapy, or Dance/Movement Therapy
- New York State license required.
- Clinical experience providing treatment for addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders for at least one (1) year.
- Experience with therapeutic groups (preferably addiction-oriented), therapeutic communities, and inpatient care.
- Demonstrated communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Music Therapist with MT-BC.
- Experience evaluating program effectiveness and implementing data-driven process improvement.
- Knowledge of medications assisted recovery (MAR) and how behavioral interventions can support and improve outcomes for MAR.
- Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary and/or research team.
- Familiarity with all relevant healthcare standards: OASAS, ASAM, TJC, etc.
- Proficiency with data management and electronic records.
- Strong problem solving, conceptual, and analytical skills.
