THIS IS A UNION POSITION-1199POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Nursing Director, performs work in the non-professional and paraprofessional phases of health servicesRESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides direct patient care under the supervision of RN or assigned supervisor.
- Communicates data collected to assist the provider in patient assessment and planning to include referral tracking, maintaining emergency room/hospitalization log and missed appointments. Utilizes clinical decision support. Collaborates with the healthcare team.
- Delivers care in accordance with the patient care plan, policies and procedures of the organization.
- Protects patients/employees utilizing infection control standards.
- Practices safety standards in medication/immunization administration, vaccine safety, storage.
- Participates in committee meetings including quality improvement activities.
- Keeps clinic rooms and nursing care areas in order.
- Cleans, sterilizes and sets up instruments, trays or other equipment in accordance with standard procedures.
- Keeps inventory and replenishes supplies. Keeps supply closets in order and prepares supplies as needed.
- When assigned, serves and assists administrative staff, giving directions and general information concerning agency services; register patients taking and recording data.
- Participates in conferences on patient care and attend agency meetings to keep abreast of organizational policy and procedure changes.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned or when necessary. If such work becomes a permanent and regular part of the job, a new description will be prepared.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate or diploma from an accredited LPN program.
- One (1) to three (3) years nursing experience. Some portion of nursing experience in an ambulatory care setting is recommended.
- Excellent communication skills- verbal and written.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Computer skills required. Prior experience with EMR systems preferred. Ability to enter accurately information from various sources onto EMR.
- Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient setting.
- Ability to work flexible hours- days, evenings, holidays and weekends.
- BLS and Infection Control Certificate required.
